On November 28th–29th, the 2025 Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Demonstration Competition for International Students was successfully held at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. A total of 179 teachers from 64 universities across the province competed on the same stage, showcasing their talents and teaching expertise. After fierce competition, Mr. Zhang Di from our school won the Grand Prize, and Ms. Hou Jing received the Second Prize, marking a historic breakthrough for our school in this provincial competition.
Guided by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and organized by the Foreign Students Education Management Research Committee of the Jiangsu Higher Education Association, the competition aims to thoroughly implement the Opinions on Accelerating and Expanding the Opening-up of Education in the New Era issued by eight national ministries, actively advance the “Study in Jiangsu” initiative, and continuously enhance the quality of education for international students in China. As a major event in the field of international-student education, the competition has been included in the provincial list of officially recognized teaching competitions for teachers in Jiangsu universities.

In the on-campus selection, the two courses—Food Processing, taught by Mr. Zhang Di, and Microbiology, taught by Ms. Hou Jing—stood out and were selected to represent the university’s science and engineering courses in the 2025 provincial competition. Prior to the event, the School of Food and Biological Engineering and the Overseas Education College jointly organized an expert team to refine the teaching content and instructional strategies of the two teachers through multiple rounds of rehearsal and enhancement.

At the provincial competition, both teachers skillfully integrated solid professional knowledge with flexible teaching methods, focusing not only on knowledge delivery but also on the development of students’ competencies. Their professional-level English-medium instruction and impressive teaching performance fully demonstrated the exceptional teaching ability and internationalized educational standards of our faculty.
This remarkable achievement represents an important milestone in our college’s efforts to advance internationalized teaching and improve the quality of education for international students. It also sets a model and benchmark for future teaching practices. (School of Food and Biological Engineering)
