On April 10, 2026, at the invitation of the School of Food Science and Engineering at Jiangsu University, Professor Gong Yunyun and Dr. Pui Yee Tan from the University of Leeds delivered an academic lecture titled "The rising trend of child double burden of malnutrition and prevention - case studies in China and South East Asia" in Room 506 of Wenhua Building. Zhang Hongyin, Dean of the School of Food Science and Engineering, presided over the lecture, which was attended by Zhou Cunshan, Associate Dean, and nearly 50 faculty members and students from the school.

Professor Gong Yunyun currently serves as a professor and the Director of the International Office at the School of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Leeds. She is also a member of the expert panels of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the World Health Organization/International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO/IARC). Professor Gong has long been dedicated to research on the impact of food safety and dietary exposure on children's nutritional health. She has made pioneering contributions in revealing the causal relationship between aflatoxin exposure and children's stunted growth, providing crucial scientific evidence for improving children's nutrition worldwide.

During the lecture, Professor Gong Yunyun conducted a systematic analysis of the issues of childhood malnutrition/overnutrition from the perspectives of epidemiology, nutritional intervention, case promotion, and distribution benefit analysis. Her relevant research findings have provided a solid reference for the formulation of government public nutrition policies. Dr. Pui Yee Tan further introduced the application cases and related achievements of the aforementioned research findings in Southeast Asian countries.

This lecture has further deepened the faculty and students' understanding and comprehension of child nutrition. This academic exchange activity has effectively propelled the internationalization process of our school's discipline construction and holds positive significance for enhancing the school's academic influence. (School of Food Science and Engineering)
